Roughly where are we going?  Where are the ramps and launch sites etc?

This year we start at the Wadawanuck Club, 196 Water St, Stonington, CT 06378.  Head over to the Youth Pavillion at 5pm on Wednesday for registration and we can help get you started if you are new to all this.  If you want to get a good head start… read this below.

Check out the planning map here.  Full charts will be provided at registration.

Why are coaches/charperones required?

Overnight on an island as a guest requires each crew to have an accountable adult with them at all times, this included sleeping in the gym with other teams.   Each coaches/charperones should register as a coach and all meals from Wednesday through Friday night will be sorted for you as well.  Each coach can take up to 12 sailors.

What time does Registration start on Wednesday?

We will be set up at 5pm.  You may also register Thursday AM from 7:30 to 8:30 also.  There will be a competitors breifing at approx 9AM at the Wadawwanuck youth pavillion as well.

What time do you estimate the regsitration close on Wednesday?

Pretty early!  So swing by and get registered and pick up your charts!  Then  head off to get some rest and review the charts and weather options.

$175 per sailor is not cheap?  What gives?

This is unlike any other youth event.  The live trackers and data are almost $100 per boat alone.  We house you overnight, throw a private party at a restaurant we reserve, cover all meals for three nights and two days.  These fee’s per sailor actually does not come close to covering all the costs and we thank our sponsors for helping to pick up the rest!

Do the kids need to bring lunches and will there be time for the coaches to pass them out on the water?

All meals are provided.  Let us know if you have any special dietary needs by notice to flackcindy@gmail.com .  Meals will all be nut free.

Where is the drop off for the gear on Thursday morning? I read the ferry boat, but is that close to the club?

Thursday AM each crew member can drop off ONE bag (plus sleeping bag and pillow) at the drop spot (walking distance from skippers meeting), it will go right to Fishers Island and be at the club when sailors arrive.

What is the story with trackers?  Do I need to bring my phone on the water?

Real time tracking this year will be done on a smartphone app. You will be given a waterproof case and external battery back, still this tracking feature of the race is optional, and using a phone around the water has risks that the organizers will not be held responsible for. Read more about the app and download it here.  https://kwindoo.com/about#racers

Do I need a sleeping bag?  Where will we sleep?

Since we will be sleeping in the Fishers Island School please be sure to pack a sleeping bag. Along with all your non-sailing stuff, your sleeping bags will be transported from Stonington to Fishers Island by KAIROS a 36′ Ray Hunt Custom.

What should I pack?

Not much! In your non-sailing bag, pack yourself a change of nice clothes. After the first day of racing, the Banquet and DJ will take place at The Pequot House. Boys should wear collared shirts. Girls shall wear a dress or presentable shirt with shorts or pants.

Water & Food?

Please bring an extra water bottle since disposable water bottles are BANNED at this event and water will NOT be provided by the regatta committee while sailing. Feel free to ask your coaches to bring a large cooler to fill up with water at the yacht clubs and store on their coach boat for your team personally.

All meals will be provided up until the finish. At Mystic Shipyard, there will be a food truck where competitors can order a proper awards meal! We will try to do the awards fast, so everyone can pack up and leave after

Showers?
Post racing activities are planned at the Fishers Island Yacht Club. Make sure you wear or bring a bathing suit since you’ll be getting wet.

What do I do with my dolly?

Dollies will go into a U-haul after launching and be delivered to Mystic Shipyard.  They will be delivered to the dinghy/beach ramp after the final leg on Friday.  Thursday night boats will be stored at Fishers Island.

How about my travel or team trailer?

After unloading your boat and dolly take your trailer over to Mystic Shipyard and leave the trailer.   See the Plan Map for details.

We are trailering a crash boat, is there a place we can store it?

Yes.  Please, we will have docking for all RIBS in Stonington, Fishers Island, and Mystic – free of charge.

Where on Fishers Island could the crash boat spend the night?

We will have docking at the club for you.

Is there breakfast on Friday?
